From “Oscar, an inquiry into the nature of sanity?”

without comments

“The Newtons were having some difficulties with people stealing from their gardens, so one morning we went off to Spring Gully, where Arthur said “the baboons from Bottom House” had been “stealing our coconuts.” Once there we about inserting old razor blades in the trucks of the palms, placed a human skull (the origin of which I did not inquire about) on a branch overhaning the pathyway leading into the grove, and sprinkled about a mixture that Arthur had concocted of various herbs, urine and chicken blood. We returned the next day, but more coconuts had been taken. Arthur despaired of the wickedness of the people.”
